Fixer Upper

I have always been a Food Network fan. Barefoot Contessa was my absolute favorite as Ina Garten can do NO wrong in this world, and her love for her husband Jeffrey is the most sincere thing I have ever witnessed. Shows like Unwrapped, Iron Chef America, 30 Minute Meals, Tyler's Ultimate and Sandra's Money Saving Meals were my favorites and I really wish they were still around.

My Food Network love went out the window the minute my Husband and I made the decision to buy our first home in 2013. Out went Food Network and hello HGTV and DIY Network! Not to say I never watched HGTV (Dear Genevieve please come back!) or any other decorating show, remember Trading Spaces on TLC??!!

Lately the new trend is watching renovation shows and anything DIY, and I have definitely jumped on the bandwagon. Chip and Joanna Gaines (Fixer Upper of course!) have totally changed my mind on what I want my home to look like, while Nicole Curtis (Rehab Addict on DIY) makes me want to embrace the elegance and simplicity of older homes. With the recent purchase of a bigger home my husband and I went the Fixer Upper route. This is our new Home:

The outside is fabulous as the previous owners really maintained the exterior of the house and had great landscaping. We also lucked out as they replaced the full roof in 2015, and as any homeowner can attest to that is big expense. I love the white with the black shutters and on my to do list is changing out the front door to a red door.  The red door will definitely pop against the black shutters and be good compliment to the brick.

As easy as the red door is, we are very hard headed individuals and tackled the hardest part of the house first: the ENTIRE interior. Stay tuned!!
